Omfg... where to start....
Okay, well my friend Gina and I had gone to meet up with our teacher Goin, who was teaching a night class, to discuss these issues that were arising with our studio class. We got that somewhat cleared up and since we had nothing to do and I was waiting for traffic to clear out we stuck around to talk with him and some friends in that class.
Well I was talking to some other people and having a totally seperate conversation than the rest of the class when I over heard my teacher say, "Why is it that you guys always ask that question first when you meet asian people?"
Curious as to what they were talking about I turned around and was like, "Huh? Ask what? Ask what?"
Then... the bitch spoke.
"Asians eat cats and dogs," in an obnoxious I-know-what-I'm-talking-about voice that was obviously disgusted by that thought.
The first thing that flashed into my mind, 'Oh hell no, bitch!'
Yes, I find it annoying and it ticks me off when people ask me if "we" eat dogs or cats, but if you're not trying to be purposly insulting and are just curious then fine. I will answer it. But you fucking put it as a statement in a disgusted tone and are labeling only a certain culture of doing it?! No! I am not about to let you get away with it! I'm not gonna be a meek asian girl that's gonna let you talk smack and spread rumors!
I told her, "That is insulting! It's soo very insulting!"
Then she got all fucking defensive, she then proceeded to insult me more! Of course she didn't realize it but I'm Korean and she said, "Koreans eat cats and dogs. Dogs are like their staple meat diet."
Yes, I know that in Korea there are some places where you can get dog meat... but for fucks sake! It's not like you go to a fucking burger joint and say, "I'd like a dog burger, please. Oh, and I'd like a side of fries with that." No! Hell fucking NO! You have to fucking go out of your way to find a place that sells dog meat!
I told her it's not Korea's main diet of meat and she was nagging back that it was, it was, it was. I said even if they do eat dog meat they're not the only ones! She kept saying they were the only ones to eat cats and dogs. She kept insisting. Hello! Every fucking asain culture has tried fucking cat and dog meat! They've tried a different variety of meats! I told her, "I'm Korean and I've never eaten cats or dogs!" And then I asked her what the deal was. If it's wrong then how can you eat cows, pigs, chickens, etc. A lot of people have these animals as pets. Ugh! Yes I'm angry she picked on Koreans and it did stab at me, but that wasn't the main reason I was so pissed! How fucking dare she be racist and label only Asians as eating pets! Not only Asians but a specific Asian culture!
She whined that she never said it was a bad thing to eat cats and dogs, that she was only saying what she knew. She also finally consented and said "some" Chinese people eat dogs, but it's mostly just Koreans! I wanted to bitch slap her so bad! And she had the fucking nerve to say that Japanese haven't touched them.... What ever, bitch! She kept denying it and denying it saying she was right because she's talked to people... who the fuck have you been talking to? Other white people?!
And this guy who I had talked to earlier before all this started interupted her and said, "I've talked to a lot of asain people and the only one that I know has eaten dog was Japanese."
Thank you! My god! Instant friend! I need to go back and find out his name! She couldn't say anything to him because he was white as well.
But she wouldn't listen! She kept insisting that she was right and everyone else was wrong. Me! It seemed the fact that I was Asian and not to mention Korean didn't seem to matter at all!
My teacher than interupted us and asked me, "Cho, are you angry because she said it's the Koreans that eat dog meat or is it because she said the Japanese don't eat them at all?"
And I told him truthfully, "No, that is not the point. She is singling out the Asian culture and not only that a specific Asian culture for this." Don't get me wrong, I don't hold any grudges against the Japanese, I don't hate them. In fact I'm fascinated by they're culture as well as many other cultures. If I didn't like them I would never have fucking forked over more than $3,000 to go on a school trip to Japan!
We were still arguing when Gina walked back into the class, she had stepped out for a while, and she knew something was up because it takes quite a bit of pushing to make me this pissed! She sat down and I was trying to say something when the bitch then put up her hand and in a haughty voice said, "Let me finish what I have to say!"
*raises a brow* Fine let's see how much more fucking stupid you can make yourself look.
She said that Asia is big, China being the largest country in the world and she was just making a comment on what Asians eat. WTH?! If China is the largest Asian country wouldn't it be more likely that more Chinese people eat dogs than Koreans? Dude, Korea is super small! It's bigger than Japan, but come on!
And Gina, bless her soul and her sense of humor, told her, "Apparently you've never been to Mexico."
We all laughed and I brought up the point that in old European times they ate dog too, why are you just picking on one culture. She knew she was losing and no one was on her side. She'd been shaking and was getting ready to cry and her face was turning red. Finally Goin decided to end it and save the class before anymore hell broke loose. I dropped it, I didn't argue anymore, but of course... being the whipped dog with her tail tucked between her legs tried regain some kind of advantage back to her and make me look like a bitch kept whining and complaining that I attacked her, and blah blah blah. Yeah, yeah. I'm the big bad guy because I stood up against her racist comments. And she wouldn't drop it! She really wouldn't so I said, "Yeah, and look who's the one that won't drop the subject." Ugh, so unbelievable.
Then she really topped off her stupidity. It was the cherry topped on the ice cream sundae.
She was ranting, I've already moved on and talking about something else so I wasn't totally paying attention to her, and she tells me, "blah blah blah, you're English is very good... blah blah blah..."
It got my attention again and I was thinking, 'What the hell does my English have to do with any of this?' while more than half the class, INCLUDING my teacher, was like, "OH SHIT!"
Goin was telling me, "Breath, Cho, breath." It took a couple seconds but I finally understood what the hell she was going on about... it totally shocked me.
And as I was starting to say something, and of course she wouldn't let me, she said, "Don't even start! I was complimenting you! You're English is very good for someone that came from Korea." Complimenting? Complimenting?! Dude! That's a fucking insult! What? Is my English so bad that I give you the impression that I'm from out of the country?!
Gina jumped in with, "Cho was born in America."
HA! Stupid bitch! You dug your own fucking stupidity grave! And of course being the superior one and being the victim she tried to save herself and blamed me for saying that I was "from" Korea. STUPID!
I "never" in my life have said I'm from Korea. I'll tell people, "I'm Korean," but never, "I'm from Korea." Why would I ever say I'm from Korea when I'm from America? I was born an American citizen dumb ass!
She kept saying she was under the impression that I was from Korea because I said "from" and I kept telling her, "No, I said I am Korean. Not from Korea."
Then of course it went back to eating dogs, for fuck's sake she couldn't drop it, and I had it with her. She dug her self into the I'm-fucking-stupid hole some more when she said stuff like, "Well, I've never stepped a foot outside of America." (Then what makes you the oh so fucking expert of Asian cultures?) "As an American sometimes we're ignorant of these things."
Once more bless Gina for her replys, "I never stepped a foot past TJ." and "I thought I was American too."
"So did I." And we all just laughed at her. Just because you don't travel anywhere past America doesn't mean you have to be ignorant. Just because you're an American doesn't mean you are ignorant. It's up to you to be a stupid ass and make decisions to be ignorant and believe only in what you think is right and wrong. Being an American citizen doesn't mean you can't enrich and broaden your horizons.
Eventually she shut up because no one was paying attention to her anymore. She left the classroom, probably to have her cry of self pity at being attacked by a "Korean" and when she returned she put on her jacket and put up her hoody and huddled away from the rest of the world. Psh! No sympathy for you bitch!
I later found out she's a stupid little whore monger that pulls that racist, self superior shit all the time. What ever. So long as she doesn't try to mess with me again I'm not gonna do anything else to her.
I mean yes, I realize that sometimes people say things and they don't necessarily mean to insult, I'm guilty of that all the time, but at least admit what you said may be wrong! At least I'll apologize and try to rectify my misunderstanding, but she kept insisting she was right! Ugh!
Anyhow... that's my rant of anger... now I need to go study for a quiz tomorrow...
